Design Token Governance: Bringing Design Systems into the Engineering Loop

The value of design tokens is widely acknowledged in 2026 — but few teams have truly operationalized them. The question isn't "should we use tokens?" but "how do we manage tokens without creating another form of messy code?" The Three-Layer Token Model: More Than Colors and Spacing

The true value of design tokens emerges in cross-platform scenarios. In 2026, more teams need to support Web, mini-programs, React Native, and desktop simultaneously. Token sync challenges include:

Platform difference mapping: Different platforms have different capabilities. CSS supports rgba() and var(), while mini-programs may only support HEX colors.
